If you’re looking for an easy snack to add to your weekly food prep, these baked granola bars are a winner!
They’re chewy, delicious and easy to customise with whatever mix-ins your family loves. Add chocolate chips, dried fruit or seeds - or keep them nut-free for school lunchboxes.
This recipe is by the lovely Carly Fowler and has quickly become a Sinchies favourite.
Ingredients
-
½ cup melted butter
-
¼ cup brown sugar
-
¼ cup maple syrup
-
1 teaspoon vanilla
-
1 egg
-
½ cup plain flour
-
2 cups rolled oats
-
¾ cup mix-ins of your choice
For the mix-ins, try chocolate chips, dried fruit, seeds or a combination of your favourites. Simply leave out the nuts if you need them to be nut-free.
Method
-
Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a baking pan with baking paper.
-
Add all the ingredients to a large bowl and mix until well combined.
-
Transfer the mixture to the lined pan.
-
Press it down really firmly - this helps the bars hold together once sliced.
-
Bake for 22 - 25 minutes, or until golden.
-
Allow the slice to cool completely before cutting it into bars.
A few handy tips
-
Press the mixture firmly into the pan so your bars don’t crumble. I use baking paper.
-
Wait until it has completely cooled before slicing.
-
Change the mix-ins each week to keep things interesting.
These homemade granola bars are a simple way to get ahead on your weekly snack prep and make busy mornings that little bit easier.
